Soon its Goodbye 2012 and Hello 2013!

I will be happy to say good bye to 2012, it’s been tough and frightening year for me. I am still trying to get my bearings here in my new home of Philadelphia, having moved from New York in the summer of 2011. I've been looking for a good job, establish myself as a freelance writer, maintain a home, give thought to getting a dating life and mourning the loss of a close friendship or perhaps it just changed and showed what was already rotten. Anyway it’s been rough and I never want anything like this to happen again. I am a person who is determined to fight to remain positive and hopeful, I think that I will accomplish the goals that I have and one is to blog more often and to also include vlogging posts.

One happy thing is I convinced a friend to start blogging, she started four of them but has to clean up viruses on her computer, but I think she will be very successful when she gets up and running. I hope to guest blog for her blogs and I mentioned that she should start a blog talk radio show.

For myself...I am giving thanks for a new job that just came out of the blue, I interviewed, the interview went three hours, so that was a positive. The next day I sent my thank e-mail and expressed my gratitude and excitement, within two hour of sending it I get a call that the HR manager had already started processing my application, calling my references and that she was impressed with me. Yay!!!!

I should find out if I am getting an offer on Monday when the HR manger gets back from Christmas vacation.

I believe that I've get the job! Unit Clerk at JFK Behavioral Health Center.

Frankenstorm

Soooo...I 've survived the great Frankenstorm of 2012. Here in my home, of 1 year and some months the storm did damage, just lost power for three hour. I move from New York to Pennsylvania and from the news reports Southern NY (Manhattan,Staten Island, the broughs) all the way up to Westchester County, NY have been trounced. There are fundraisers, telethons, FEMA and the Red Cross assistance to help the victims who have been flooded out and burned out of their homes. The news footage (CNN,6ABC and Good Morning America ) which I have watched for days is filled with despair for the aftermath and hope for the recovery. I feel sorrow for the losses of homes ,businesses and lives...but I also grieve for the animals...wild and domestic who were of course unprepared and must rely on us humans to show mercy and help them.

Gossip Grumble: Jenny McCarthy's Bad Habits

Jenny M. is funny as all get out, a good mother and an activist for Autism and the families effected, but this funny bad girl is badder than you think. Jenny sat down with Billy Bush of Access Hollywood to promote and discuss her autobiography and little a couple secret fell out on the studio floor. What were those little tidbits?  well one in particular was wellllll...smarmy. Most people who need money for gas they call their parents or friends for loan of $20 or so...but not Jenny, sooo one time during spring break ,Miss Jenny and pals went on a road trip and ran out of gas and money. No money , No gas...so what's a gal to do...well give a trucker a blowjob for a twenty, seemed to be her plan....Whoa Nelly. That little gem came out with Billy Bush's prodding, cuz Billy read the book and sensed that the story started in the book left a detail to the imagination and , well Billy imagined and Jenny confirmed it.

GG GOSSIP

Soooo, I am still pursuing a writing career and have taken on a position of Celebrity Gossip columnist at Sonic Eclectic.com an online magazine. Sonic covers pop culture...gaming,  newsworthy events, film, parties and music. While looking around on Craig's List the NYC page as a oppose to the Philadelphia page (where I now reside) I found the ad for writers wanted and lo and behold, I interviewed on the phone and got the job as gossip columnist the same day. Personally, I think I was the only person they had who was interested and their time was running out. I lucked out there and I've been enjoying the free reign that I've been given with the column. I was thinking that I will start posting some of what I write at Sonic here as content for this blog. Another piece of writing news, I answered another Craig's List ad ( Craig's List has been good to me over the years) and landed another position this time at iWIDK.com as a viral video contributor/commentator, the downside to both position is that they are unpaid.....bummer!

Summer Movies!

I saw the Hasbro game based movie "Battleship". Taylor Kitsch and the tall, cool Alexander Skaarsgard as the heroes of any movie would cause me to purchase a ticket. Set in lovely Pearl Harbor, Hawaii  the resurrected  board game turned movie, involving veterans and aliens; is funny, colorful, loud and filled with "save the world action." Hong Kong takes a hit with the alien attack, wakes everybody up. The US Navy spies with its little eye an alien ship out to sea, goes all neighborly  to say "how you doin? and gets attacked for the trouble (don't you hate it when that happens) and then its on like Donkey Kong in the Pan Pacific. Directed by Peter Berg of "Friday Night Lights" this action flick  is all "boom" and not enough "heart and soul"  which would have helped distinguish it from a Michael Mann film. I am easy enough to please when it comes to action movies, but I always want the directors to add more balance in an action film, its the difference between a good action film and a great action film in my opinion.  Anyhoo...summer action movies with all the explosions, aliens, hot guys and villains,  hmmm...... time to go see Men in Black 3.  I love the summer movie season.

"Battleship"  Grade: B

Summer Days!

So, its the unofficial start to Summer, now that Memorial Day Holiday has passed. I guess its time to come up with a "De-stress your Life" plan. Of course said plan will include fun. Now that I live near Philadelphia, I will have to do some sight-seeing and soak up the historic culture here. Summer being a time when things slow down; I think with the less hectic pace I can get some things done such as go to Zumba! and enjoy the summer blockbusters and relax.

Good for you Meryl.

Meryl Streep has ended her Oscar losing streak. Ok, so we can all move on now. Thank you!

The Oscars 2012

Yay...Octavia Spencer.......won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar. The times they are a changin. I think Octavia is the third African-American woman to win in that catagory, the second Whoopie Goldberg and the first Hattie McDonald for Mammy in "Gone with the Wind".

2012

Happy New Year..... hold on to your butts; because according to the Mayan calendar and other sources this is the year the World comes to an end, as in the THE END. Scary huh! Well either Prince needs to write a new song for us to dance to (party like its 1999 is not going to cut it) or we'll have to do with Brittany Spears' "Dance Until The World Ends".
