Watching Supernatural

Its Friday, so I must be watching my new obsession, the CW's Supernatural. I am so shocked after watching the CW ( all seasons of Smallville, Vampire Diaries, Nikita, Gossip Girl and so on,) for years its only now that I getting into this show. I have to give credit to TNT, I've been catching up on the show all summer right up til now. Definitely dropping coin on the Season 6 DVD, loving it so far on TNT, though they seem  to be six episodes short of showing the full season. Wishing I could decide between rough and rugged guy Dean and tall sexy wounded Sam; they touch on very different sides of my personality. Well... theres nothing wrong with crushing on both characters so I guess I'll indulge myself. Though years ago I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer so I had to tune in for tonight's episode "Shut up. Dr. Phil" with Spike and Cordy (James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter) respectively. Its was nice to see them in action again, even though they made mince meat out of Dean and Sam as feuding married witches. Next weeks epi looks like a odd one, seems the guys are going postal.

A Great Read Teaser: "Catching Fire"

Something new to add to this blog, will be a teaser snippet of whatever book, I am currently reading. I love to read ; through my childhood I devoured books the way others ate Oreos and Chips Ahoy cookies. More oftentimes than not I am reading more than one book at a time, but for this purpose I will start with the second book in "The Hunger Games" series " by Suzanne Collins, "Catching Fire" that I started last month.

" Tell me about it," I say . If I could've just hated him in the area, we all wouldn't be in this mess now. He'd be dead, and I'd be a happy little victor all, by myself." "And where would we be Katniss?" asks Gale.

"The Hunger Games" series is hot in Hollywood right now, its currnetly on tap for the big screen with "it girl" Jennifer Lawrence in the lead role of heroine "Katniss Everdeen."

Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Bonnie and Damon

In love with the hotness of Bonnie and Damon on "The Vampire Diaries". I have a FB fan page (Bonnie and Damon (Semper Mia) to celebrate and honor the lovliness of "Bamon". I live with hope that the writers of TVD will partake in the huge chemistry emenating from Kat Graham and Ian Somerhalder. When they are on screen together the I hate you/eye sex heat is palpable. Lets (please) not waste the natural talent here people!!!!!!!!!!!
I love "The Vampire Diaries", watching the new Season 3 episodes are a highlight in my week, sad (sigh) I know but I really love escapism through television. So far the episode "The Hybrid" is a favorite, pitch perfect; funny, dramatic, so tragically romantic I could barely stand it. Stefan and Elena ( Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev) are killing it softly. Damon ( Ian Somerhalder) poor boy *tsk* love him to bits but he needs to move on from his misplaced, supposed love for Elena. Damon should  realize and recognize Elena  is a rebound from his epically abysmal love for Katherine.

So what now ?

I am so tired of treading water in my life, something has to change and I will make it happen, I am not one to settle. Not settling carries a high price for me...failure,lonliness,sadness and any other negetive you can think of, but I am compelled to proceed in this vein. Like usual I have a halfbaked plan that I am working with, I suppose halfbaked is better than none.  I am still pursuing becoming a paid writer but really have to get going with that, I procastinate alot on this subject. I was thinking I should write and submit to Helium and Suite 101 that sounds like a viable idea. I am thinking I need to start another blog to keep my articles apart from my personal blogging, it would be good to make better use of this blog with lighter fair such as movie reviews and comments on my favorite TV shows, random thoughts and commentary in general.

Starting from one....

Sooo... here I am having made another huge and frightening and sudden change in my life; I've relocated to Upper Darby, PA to take a chance on a new life. Most of my family thinks leaving my job and New York in general to be a boneheaded move, but I needed to get out of the suffocating situation that I was in. Working for the Yonkers Employment Center under the NYS Department of Labor was a blessing and a trial, the job came at the right time in my life, but it was a deadend and I have never been able to live in a corner. My fear is while I think that I am escaping, I am really still there.....in the corner.

Butterfly

Awaken butterfly
you have slumbered to long
seasons have come and gone
years have fanned across eternity
those who knew you when
have long since withered
Awaken butterfly
your time has come
freedom is at hand
spread the wisdom you have garnered
spread the light that flows from your heart
Awaken butterfly
leave behind the shell of
pain and regret that went
with you to slumber
Shake off your past
take flight on your wings
of translucent color
seek the bliss that awaits you
the meaning of the world
the reason of your existence
your purpose

The Night Train

Here,there
In the darkness I seem to be nowhere
Passersby crowd my vision
lovers,strangers,others
the whistle blows
My thoughts I liken unto the endless stream of time
Destination uncertain
Sangri-La or is it Babylon?
the wheels keep turning
moving forward,always forward
sending me away

Royal Wedding

How wonderful was the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton on April 29,2011? OMG I just watched and DVRd everthing on it I could all weekend. I just love a beautiful wedding and this was perfect. Loved Kate's traditional styled dress with it modern touches. I was hoping Kate would wear a more dramatic tiara than she did ,eh...oh well, she was still picture perfect. PrincesWilliam and Harry were smartly dressed in military uniforms and handsome as ever. Sooooo now.... Prince Harry is the last one standing, I wonder who will get him to the alter in the coming years. I have to be honest I hope it not that unattractive, tacky snubnosed girl Chelsey something or other.

Busy,Busy,Busy

I have been so busy with work,as a a state employee dealing with people suffering with the economic downturn ......its a rough business and so sad. I am certainly doing my best to help and encourage others and get them back on track, but it takes it toll on my energy and time.  I am still writing for a online business that makes men's white dress shirts, so in that way, I am able to keep up with my writing. On a happy note soon I will be jetting off on vacation and get a chance to truly relax...Palm Springs here I come....Yay.

Have a slice of the American dream

Have a slice of the American dream

By Gail Service

“American as apple pie” a common phrase used to illustrate something that is generally considered wholesome and purely American. Take fashion, it doesn’t have to be high fashion… hot off the runways of Europe ,just shopping at the Mall or online is good enough for most. Some fashion labels happen to be made right here in the good “Ole US of A.”

What’s trending in fashion and the economy right now are products “made in America”, “green products” and “green collar “jobs.

Americans care about things that are functional with a side of whimsy, practicality or even a conscience, fashion certainly is not to be left out. Some clothing labels have a humanitarian side; one example is eco-friendly Esperanza Threads.

Many clothing labels have trouble with the vapor of sweatshop rumors dogging them; Esperanza Threads is one that does not have that particular issue. They fight the good fight, and uphold a sweatshop -free standard. Made in the USA, using organic cotton for its eco-friendly clothing and a part of the Grassroots Coalition for Economic and Environmental Justice, the American dream is alive and thriving and showing its conscience.

The thought of child labor and sub minimum wages is not sexy and judged morally corrupt. Sweatshop-free clothing is material not produced through any means or measure violating human rights. Child labor is not used, fair wage is given in accordance to labor law, and working conditions are monitored for safety and all in all, basic human rights protected.

The idea of people before profits does exist, perhaps with the strain of an uphill battle attached, but what is a success story without a little conflict or struggle and Americans know a lot about both.

Here again...

So I am still pursuing paid blogging assigments, and I am making some progress. A friend has referred me to a business man that she knows to blog for his site. I am so grateful because I was mostly using Craig's List which is a great resource and I will continue to use it. Its been awhile since I made an entry because there has been alot going on at the day job. I can't really blog about it because I work for the state and I need my job.

I plan to schedule time to blog weekly so I can keep my content fresh. I am currently enrolled in a four day Modern Media Wrting class at a local college, I am enjoying it and learning a great deal. The instructor Marina V. is great ,she is knowledgable in her field and very accessable and encouraging in class. The other students asked her to teach another session of the class, but she doesn't have anything planned ...so maybe by next fall she will.  Anywho...practice makes perfect so........

Special treatment….Traditional dry cleaning or Eco-friendly care

By Gail Service

Do your treat your dress shirts as well as you treat yourself?

When you are feeling grimey, grungy and out of sorts nothings better than a hot shower, but that laundry hamper in the corner− filled with your best shirts for work, won’t wash themselves, there is no quick hop in the shower for them. So what will you do?

Ask any man in America how he takes care of his dress shirts and he will give you an answer that is logical and convenient. Professional dry cleaning is the most likely response to this query. Drop off your shirts, get a ticket, come back in two to five days and some harried hard working person will hand you a bundle of hangers with your freshly laundered shirts.

Now you’ve paid roughly $1.95 per shirt and you are on your way home.

But here is something you probably didn’t you know, that the dry cleaning chemicals used to clean your shirts can destroy the fabric, breaking down the fibers and cause your white dress shirts to look dingy, gray and a bit flabby. Also for some people wearing newly dry cleaned clothing can cause a negative skin reaction caused by sensitivity to the chemicals used.

Instead of the going to the cleaners’ method, how about an Eco-friendly solution; consider using the washing machine, saving the planet, your health and some money while caring for your shirts.

Eco-friendly laundry products and techniques can assist in keeping your budget intact and save your health.

When choosing to use a washing machine be sure to set the machine on the gentle cycle with luke- warm water to preserve the fabric. Some eco- safe detergents to consider are, Ecos by Earth Friendly Products Free & Clear at $6 for 50 oz; it’s a nice, garden-fresh, mild detergent that's tough on stains. It washes a full load with just one ounce and has a built-in soy-based fabric softener and cellulose-based optical brightener.

Another product is, Arm & Hammer Essentials at $3.99 for 50 oz., great for sensitive skin and leaves clothes feeling soft, and works very well on hard to clean sweat stains.

There are Eco-friendly dry cleaners, though they are not prevalent and found in more liberal and progressive neighborhoods such as Greenwich Village in NY.

These cleaners use one of two methods wet-cleaning and CO2.

Wet cleaning uses water and specialized detergents that are milder than home use products. Carbon dioxide (CO2) cleaning uses non-toxic, liquid CO2 as the cleaning solvent, along with detergent.

Whatever you should decide, just be sure to give tender loving care to your dress shirts so they will last another work day. In the economy as it is, where loyalty is hard to find, your well cared for dress shirt well be on your side and help present your very best self to a new boss or and not so old one.
