Remains of Summer

The end of August draws nigh.....and so I say goodbye to "brain frying" days, sticky nights, the ice cream man and fireflies (hm mm ) yeah, okay, whatever. I always liked the Fall or more specifically Indian Summer better but (sigh) I digress. So summer is done and done, my plans? well there is a new career move on the horizon and a new home...promotion and White Plains here I come. I am making plans to improve my outlook on life and by extension my everyday interactions. I ordered a new book from Amazon; The Tongue: A Creative Force. by Charles Capp. Positive thinking and positive talk, hence (The Secret) are not new tools in the creative quest for a better life and I have dabbled before in the use of positive talk, but didn't stick with it. A second time will be the charm. As a hopeful and dreamy person,  its not so odd for me to dive into something this fanciful. I believe in the power of words both written and spoken. Aside from having designs on career advancement, I want to work on my social life and my creative life endeavors. How shall these things be done? well I like the looks of Meetup.com for the social aspect and The Learning Annex ( success in writing and blogging seminars) the other. I have a couple of friends from work who are amicable in assisting me with my plight, only problem ....me and my hangups, shyness and social anxiety. Oh well. I am a work in progress.

Easter, Spring and the Macy's Flower Show

So now that the weather is better, I think that I will be more inclined to spend time outside. I am going to make sure that I go to the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Natural History. The Macy's Flower Show is this week, so I am thinking doing something, pretty and free is the way to celebrate Easter.

Spring Fling

Its spring that means crocus are blooming, birds are twittering and Macy's is having a great sale Yea!!!!!!!!!

Snowbound!

Thoughts from yesterday: Snow, Snow, Oh no! more snow. Here we are again, but this time going to work is not an option; unless I flag down a dogsled lead by burly Akitas. What shall I do with myself ? I suppose I could pass the time watching Bridezillas or CNN.

Snow Day,Mayday!!!!!!!!!!

Its snowing here in NYC, and I am at work. The agency that I work for has no mercy for the weary or those who live on hills in Westchester.  Oh well I get paid for the day.  As an employee in the public sector, its good to be working, so what can you do, but be here to serve "the people".

2010: Happy New Year!

And we're off to the races...its a new year and here dawns a fresh opportunity to shake off the dust and darkness of the last decade. I find that I am filled with, great hope and expections for this new year, this new decade. Most people determine in there minds to create and accomplish New Year resolutions. Some people run screaming from the idea, but I embrace it. So what are my resolutions? being a practial kind of girl ,I am going to start with a getting a promotion w/raise at work. I will keep an eye out for, as many opportunities as I can find.  I also resolve; to strengthen my writing skills and seek out paid online writing jobs/assignments, and fully support myself as a writer.  Okay...so I can't neglect the personal side of life therefore; I also resolve to make more of an effort to be social, make friends, go out more, date more... blahblahblah , have more fun and be less of a nervous wreck. I look forward to affording an apartment again studio or one bedroom as along as its private, quiet and mine. Time to step up my fitness routine, manage my portion control and maybe take a yoga or dance class. On the more creative end, I am hoping to take a voice-over class and get headshots done this year, to pursue acting this summer. I would love to get into commercials and video and internet game voice-overs, also maybe episode television., I think I will make a good character actress.
